The advantage of modular water filter holders?
These filter holders can be easily fitted together, without the need for screws or sealing work, to provide several stages of filtration.
The connections also have the advantage of turning on themselves, so there are no screwing constraints when you're close to the wall and need to use an elbow for the connection.
It's also an advantage for professionals to always stock and use the same filter holder, whatever the type of connection.
You can also choose the type of filter outlet and inlet:

The sediment cartridge
In the first stage of filtration, use a sediment filtration cartridge to obtain clear, limpid water in which all suspended organic impurities have been removed.
We recommend using a washable or disposable 5-micron sediment cartridge. This type of filtration is also known for being able to treat any bacteria it may contain more easily (thanks in particular to the use of a UV steriliser).
A self-cleaning pre-filter is recommended before this first stage if you are using borehole water, spring water, water from a well or rainwater recovery.
The pre-filter we offer (90 + 40 microns) eliminates the largest impurities and allows subsequent filters to clog up much more slowly.
Activated carbon cartridges
Activated carbon is used as the penultimate stage of filtration, acting on harmful elements solubilised in the water.
We recommend using a 10-micron cartridge. The fineness of the carbon serves to retain the water in contact with the carbon for as long as possible. This has nothing to do with the filtration of 5 micron sediments.
Finer filtration with activated carbon block would result in insufficient flow to supply a dwelling.
Activated charcoal is a natural detoxifier with a very high adsorption capacity, so it can quickly help to purify our bodies and the water we drink.
Thanks to its extreme porosity and adsorption capacity, activated carbon is capable of retaining many contaminants.
It is effective against chemicals, pesticides, solvents and volatile organic compounds, heavy metals, nitrates, pfas, chlordecone, drug residues, food additives, etc.
In the final filtration stage, granular activated carbon (GAC ) is used to supplement activated carbon to retain pollutants that the latter is unable to eliminate. (It is more effective on VOCs, for example).
Activated carbon is made up of small pieces of coal, in granular or block form, which have been treated to make them extremely porous.
1 gram of activated carbon has a surface area of 500 to 3,000 m2. To give you an idea of this surface area, 4 grams of activated carbon is equivalent to the surface area of an entire football pitch! It is precisely this enormous surface area that makes the carbon filter so incredibly effective at adsorbing and eliminating impurities as well as more complex substances.
The intermediate filtration stages
After the first filtration stage and before the activated carbon cartridges, which come last, you can use specific filtration cartridges.
Some contaminants in the water cannot be eliminated by activated carbon, so you will need to use appropriate cartridges, such as our anti-iron filtration cartridge, which will reduce iron/manganese levels, or our FLAR cartridge to retain arsenic and fluoride.
While many people try to get rid of limescale, some don't have enough minerals and are faced with problems of oxidation of their equipment. Using a reverse osmosis system removes the pollutants, but eliminates the minerals, which is not good for the balance at Sido.
We therefore also offer a "remineralising cartridge" to combat these problems.
What is the purpose of fine filtration?
It might be tempting to use just one very fine filter, but this is not advisable as the flow rate will be too low!
Filter cartridges can be compared to a sieve or a funnel. If the sieve is too big, all the small impurities can pass through, but if the sieve is too fine, it quickly clogs up and hardly lets anything through, and neither does the water...
That's why we use several filters of different finenesses one behind the other. This means that the cartridges clog up less quickly and are more efficient. It also allows you to maintain a correct flow rate to supply all your appliances.
